The Third Landscape I
The Inkjet prints on Innobella Photo Paper 220gr paper, carton, wood, DC paper. 2016 (Images © Pedro Faria)
This project departs from a photograph made by Agnés Varda in Póvoa do Varzim, a town in the North of Portugal, in 1956.
The installation presents a collection of text and close-up details of the original photograph (turned back to the viewer) suggesting a realignment or a possibility for a new order. The text, written by myself, includes several attempts to describe this image, triggered by a need to re-write an historical period populated by censorship and non existing archives.
The southern landscape is portrayed in this fictional story as a broken narrative, both visually and conceptually.
